Much to be excited about this month in print and in the store! New bookshelves for our nonfiction section are due in, with flared bottoms, poised to make for better browsing.
Whether you were around for the Erie County Fieldhouse in the 70s and early 80s or not, we can't help but celebrate the rock legends that performed in this venue. We are delighted to have host of Erie Music History Podcast, bass player, and author Dan Schell with us in the store on Saturday, May 4th, 1 -3 PM. With an updated edition, full of 50 new photos, this book has been a joy to read. I've learned so much, including Van Halen essentially getting their start in the Fieldhouse opening for Black Sabbath. I love the music of so many of these legends, with ACDC and Rush being my go-to playlists when I have challenging accounting work on my desk. Bass is calming to sharks, and apparently accountants as well.
Some familiar names hitting the shelves this month, including Tom Selleck's accidental career memoir, Stephen King's collection of best short stories, Ruth Ware with another thriller, and Christina Lauren's swoony fake relationship to secure an inheritance. Carley Fortune is back with a third summer romance that is sure to be a delight and on Jill's list. George Stephanopoulos takes us inside "The Sit(uation) Room of multiple presidencies.
After catching up on a sleepless night of devouring "Home Is Where the Bodies Are," (we still have a couple of signed copies in the store) I am making my way to (new to me) Colm Tóibín's "Long Island." The continuation of Eilis Lacy's story, yet I am jumping in with this one first as the premise I simply cannot wait. I look forward to following it up with "How to Read A Book," by Monica Wood.
We just received in some new "North East" merch, including wine openers, tumblers, kitchen/grill tools and more. Be sure to check them out and remember Moms, Dads, and Grads in the weeks ahead.
May this be the month I finally merge our two websites? It is on my list. I recognize it is confusing that not all Bookshop.org books are on our shelves. It is my goal to have it where you can easily browse our local store inventory, buy online and pick up in store this month. Jill has done the heavy lifting of getting the inventory in and correct. I tend to be the culprit that messes it up. So in the beginning, I will ask for your patience as we test it out.
We have been overwhelmed by your support, encouragement and business. We are considering growing our team on nights and weekends. If you have a love of books and enjoy sharing it with others, are interested in enhancing and expanding the tia experience you've enjoyed to date, consider filling out our brief application.
Happy Reading!
Kara
